Your child wants to play football?

In this section you will find answers to questions you may have regarding the WMFL football.

Question : My child was born in 2005 is he eligible to play?

Yes, your child is eligible to play! Football Quebec requires that children be registered according to their age
(and weight in certain circumstances) as follows:

Born in 2003 - 2004 - 2005 :    Atomes\Atoms (in 2012)
Born in 2001 - 2002:    Moustiques\Mosquitoes (in 2012)
Born in 1999 - 2000 :    Pee-Wee (in 2012)

Question : My daughter would like to tryout for a team, can she?

Yes, the teams are coed, she's more than welcome to tryout.

Question : Do I need to purchase any special equipement?

Your registration fee includes the rental of all equipment for the season.
For sanitary reasons you will have to provide socks and shoes for your child. Check with your park director on where to purchase these items.

Question : What kind of shoes should I buy?

Football cleats are recommended but soccer cleats are acceptable.

Question : When does the season begin and end?

The season begins with practices that are determined by the head coach of each team. The games usually begin in August and may go to mid-November.

Question : When are the games?

The games are scheduled for weekends. Each game is schedules for a period of 2 hours but the actual time of play
is determined by the level (Atoms, Mosquitoes, Peewee).

Question : Do kids get injured in games?

A group of referees are present at every game and follow the play closely in order to avoid any serious mishaps.
